In an effort to boost economic growth, our chapter has created an online business directory, Shop Black Jax. Shop Black Jax is a catalog of local black-owned businesses in Jacksonville and surrounding areas. Your support can help create a more equitable society by fostering economic empowerment in the black community.

Financial Fortitude is an initiative comprised of ten components and provides a collaboration of information from major economic corporations and other well known financial institutions. The 10 components include:

  • Goal Setting

  • Financial Planning

  • Budgeting

  • Retirement Planning

  • Home Ownership

  • Insurance

  • Estate Planning

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Debt Management

  • Savings & Investments

Educational Development

Through programs like the Delta Academy, GEMs Institute, and EMBODI, the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter positively impacts and transforms the lives of Jacksonville youth. The activities implemented most often include computer training, self-esteem and etiquette workshops, field trips for science experiences and for college exposure, and special outings to cultural events, fancy dinners, museums, plays, and concerts.

International Involvement & Awareness

In answer to the problems caused by the lack of uncontaminated water in Africa, the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter has built a water well in Malawi and assisted with a water system in South Africa. The sorority will be devoted to the continuation and expansion of its robust international awareness and involvement agenda.

Physical & Mental Health

As an organization of over 200,000 predominately African-American women, the sorority is uniquely positioned to impact the well-being of its members, their families and the communities they serve. The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter has proudly established several community partnerships with health agencies to better meet this call to action as we impact communities and positively change lives.

Political Awareness & Involvement

When the sorority speaks of social action we are speaking about ACTION. We work to address issues that affect public policy, economic viability and social justice. We promote leadership, advocacy, and empowerment, among members to bring about effective solutions to challenges. We establish positions on emerging or perennial public issues.

Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter implemented programs with the goal of achieving desired outcomes through cooperative efforts of the members.
